Tweeting MLB David Price in Sexist Hot Water
Major League Baseball player, David Price, managed to raise the ire of his female fans after tweeting what they consider a sexist message over social network, Twitter during the Thanksgiving holidays.
The Tampa Bay Rays pitcher tweeted his nearly 200,000 followers with a call for them to drive carefully over the holidays, before implying that they would need extra caution around women drivers.
“Everyone thats traveling for thanksgiving please be careful! Driving conditions will be rough with these storms! Ladies..let ur man drive! [sic],” he wrote.
Defenders of the 28 year old have suggested that the tweet was actually an act of chivalry, however, the tweet has angered some of his fairer followers, no doubt.
Another player who has taken to Twitter in another way is the non-tendered free agent relief pitcher John Axford who sent out an amusing tweet offering his services.
The Canadian born pro, nicknamed The Ax Man, put out a message: “MST (Man Seeking Team) – Tall athletic male with blue/green eyes and a love for film and mustaches seeking loving team for employment!”
It’s not quite clear how his love of film and mustaches will help teams pick him as relief pitcher, but the tweet was amusing all the same.
In the past, Axford has played for the St Louis Cardinals and the Milwaukee Brewers, and in 2011, he won the Rolaids Relief Award.
Axford became a free agent this month after he was non-tendered by the Cardinals.
It is believed that Axford won’t have a problem finding a team, thanks to his power fastball which can reach as high as 100 MPH, as well as his impressive breaking pitches.
