Tebow to the Jets, Manning to the Broncos

As everyone has heard a million times now, Tim Tebow is going to the New York Jets. Tim Tebow seems to get more media than just about anyone on the planet right now, which surprises me, but he did play a critical role in turning the Denver Broncos around last year once they gave him the starting position. Tim lead the Broncos to winning 5 of his first 6 games he started which got Denver back into the playoff hunt. By the time the regular season was over, the Denver Broncos won their division which got them into the playoffs. Not only did he get them in the postseason, they won their first playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers!

Well, things have now changed. The Indianapolis Colts decided to release Peyton Manning, which also surprises me, and Broncos Executive John Elway did everything in his power to bring Peyton to the Broncos as their starting quarterback. Ultimately, Elway was successful and Manning is now the new quarterback for Denver.

An interesting thing for me is that Denver let Tim Tebow decide whether he wanted to go to the New York Jets or the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Tim chose the Jets. For those that don’t know, Tim is from Jacksonville and play high school football there, as well as playing for the Florida Gators in Gainesville for college which is 90 minutes from Jacksonville. Kind of a slap in the face to the city of Jacksonville and Jaguar fans if you ask me. And, why would Tebow go to the Jets when they just signed Mark Sanchez, their starting quarterback, to a new long term deal? Tim obviously will not be starting for the Jets, as where he probably would have been the starting quarterback for the Jaguars.

Super Bowl Betting Odds for the Denver Broncos:
Another interesting point to make for the sports bettors out there, is from what I have heard MGM’s sportsbook had the Denver Broncos at a 75/1 odds of winning the Super Bowl for the 2012-2013 season, and now that they have Peyton Manning it dropped to 11/1 odds. Would have been nice to put $100 on Denver before they signed Peyton. I checked at BetOnline.com, an online sportsbook, and they have the Broncos at +1200, which is pretty attractive odds if you ask me. Well, this coming NFL season should be exciting once again, and we will see if Peyton Manning plays the way we are use to seeing.
