Odds for Next Year’s Super Bowl Already Up
The champagne bubbles haven’t even settled yet for Super Bowl winners the Seattle Seahawks, but already US facing bookmakers are offering odds on the next victory team. The Seahawks went in as 2 point underdogs, yet managed to smash the favorite Denver Broncos 43-8. Bookies have now posted odds of 9-2 that the reigning champs will beat whichever of the 31 remaining NFL teams to meet them at the Super Bowl next year.
But do the Seahawks have a really good chance of beating their opponents? If you look back at the previous ten years of Super Bowl history, you’ll see that it has been many years since a reigning team has given a repeat performance the following year.
Second favorites to win Super Bowl 2015 are the San Francisco 49ers with odds of 15-2, and analysts already believe that the Seahawks will have a hard time beating them in for the NFC West Division title.
AFC favorites are the defeated Broncos at 8-1 who will be more motivated than ever to grab the AFC title following their dismal loss against the Seahawks on Sunday. But once again, we have to look back in history to see what the chances are of a defeated team returning to the same arena the following year. The last team to do so were the Buffalo Bills who made a Super Bowl appearance for three straight years (1991, 1992 and 1993) after losing in 1990. There hasn’t been a repeat of a defeated team’s appearance the following year since then.
Sports analysts think that the 49ers have a better chance of a Super Bowl 2015 win since they are a more talented team than reigning champs the Seattle Seahawks.
