NBA Star Lamar Odom Kicked out of Kardashian Kingdom
Los Angeles Clippers NBA player, Lamar Odom, has been officially shown the door by his wife of 4 years, Khloe Kardashian. Divorce papers were filed this month following a very rocky marriage between the two. Odom and Kardashian knew each other for only four weeks before tying the knot in September 2009.
Lamar won two NBA Championships when playing for the Los Angeles Lakers and was also named NBA Sixth Man of the Year, however his rise to fame came from a totally different angle when he appeared several times alongside his wife on the reality show starring her famous family, Keeping Up with the Kardashians. A spin-off of the series resulted in the couple’s own show, Khloe and Lamar, which debuted in 2011.
The marriage started to stumble when Odom allegedly became heavily involved in drugs and started a string of affairs. The proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back was Odom’s arrest in August this year for driving under the influence of alcohol. While the player accepted three months of alcohol abuse treatment and received a three year suspended sentence, Kardashian wanted out the marriage.
Their prenup is reportedly rock solid, with Odom worth around $100 million and his bride about a fifth of that. It has been reported that Khloe will retain ownership of the couple’s $4 million home in Tarzana, California, as well as her $1 million engagement ring and all other pieces of valuable jewelry given to her as gifts by Odom. She will also be entitled to 2 years of spousal support from Odom, who, himself, has waived his rights to seek spousal support from Khloe. It is also believed that Kardashian will remain the main beneficiary of Odom’s life insurance policy for a $10 million payout.
Kardashian has asked for Odom’s name to be legally removed from hers, and she will go from being Khloe Kardashian Odom to her previous name. The pair cited irreconcilable differences as a reason for their divorce filing.
