Liverpool FC Takes £20m Loss on Carroll Transfer
After paying New Castle £35 million for England striker Andy Carroll in 2011, Liverpool FC is now facing a £20 million loss after agreeing to the player’s transfer to West Ham United.
The Hammers offered £15 million to finalize the move of the 24 year old football player Carroll who was on loan to the team for the past season. Liverpool made it clear that despite the high price they paid for Carroll, they did not envisage a future for him with the team.
The six year deal seems to be a good move for Carroll whose performance blossomed under manager Sam Allardyce last season, seeing him score seven goals in 22 Premier League starts.
This was a record sum for West Ham to spend on a player and high hopes are being placed on the young Carroll’s shoulders as the Hammers continue on their quest to advance on the tables. Their return to the Premier League last season saw them finish in 10th spot, and they aim to improve that placing significantly next time around, hopefully with their new star player at the helm.
West Ham has some good names lined up, including its previous record sign, Matt Jarvis (at £11.5 million) from the Wolverhampton Wanderers.
In addition, Carroll is on especially good terms with several of his new team mates, including captain and attacking mid-fielder, Kevin Nolan who served with him in Newcastle.
This week, Carroll’s transfer from Liverpool FC to West Ham United FC neared completion after he passed his medical exam with flying colors. The through check out confirmed that he was still suffering slightly from a current heel problem which may keep him out of the early matches of next season. However, other than that, the striker received a clean bill of health in his medical exam, which was seen as the last obstacle on his way to becoming a new member of West Ham.
