Derrick Rose Tears ACL, Done for the Year
Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls tears his ACL in Game 1 of the first round of the NBA playoffs against the 76ers, and is out for the remainder of the playoffs. The Chicago Bulls could not have asked for a worse situation to happen, to have their team superstar tear his ACL. The Bulls had the best record in the NBA, along with the San Antonio Spurs, at 50 wins and only 16 losses.
Several experts picked the Chicago Bulls to win it all this year, and they easily could have with Derrick Rose healthy. The Bulls only challenge would have been facing the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Championship, but with home field advantage they easily could have won that series and ultimately an NBA Championship. In my opinion, no team in the Western Conference would have beaten the Bulls in the Championship Series, not even the San Antonio Spurs.
With another year’s experience for the entire Chicago team, including Derrick Rose who needs the experience the most, the Bulls would have been extremely tough to beat in the 2012 playoffs. Now, with Derrick out the remaining of the season, the Heat should have the best chance at getting an NBA ring. I would be surprised now if LeBron doesn’t finally win his first NBA title, and I see the Heat winning many more in the coming years.
Now with Derrick Rose out for the playoffs, below are the updated online sportsbook betting odds on who will win this year’s NBA Championship.
