2010 HP Byron Nelson Championship Review:
The weeks PGA TOUR golf tournament is the HP Byron Nelson Championship, one of three events in a row in the state of Texas. Byron Nelson is one of the best professional golfers ever to play the game, and it’s a little disappointing that not more of the current big names in golf play in the tournament and honor one of the greats.
Rory Sabbatini won this tourney last year and is looking to defend his title. Vijay Singh is in the field, but definitely not one of the favorites with 50/1 odds, but I like his chances this week. He is currently ranked #51 in the world, worst since 1992, and needs to be in the top 50 to get exempt into the US Open at Pebble Beach next month. Vijay has the current longest consecutive majors played streak, at 62 majors in a row I believe, and has a lot to play for this week.
Other PGA TOUR players I like to win this week are some Texas boys which include Justin Leonard and Chad Campbell. They always seem to play great in Texas and I like their chances this week. My last 2 picks to see in the winner circle are Hunter Mahan and Rickie Fowler, 2 outstanding players that just might be holding up the trophy by the end of the week.
