2010 Valero Texas Open Review:
The week after THE PLAYERS Championship comes the Valero Texas Open in San Antonio. This year will host a new venue for the world’s greatest golfers at TPC San Antonio, the AT&T Oaks Course. The Oaks Course is a Greg Norman design with player consultant Sergio Garcia, which measures 7,522 yards and a par-72.
From what I have heard and seen, TPC San Antonio is a magnificent facility and the most eco friendly golf course in the United States. Zach Johnson will be defending his title this year as the Valero Texas Open Champion, but will he have the length to win this year.
Since no one has seen this new golf course on television, and to see how the PGA TOUR professionals stack up against it, it will be more difficult to predict a winner. However, knowing Greg Norman’s golf courses and the length of the Oaks Course, I imagine a long ball hitter and great short game player will win this golf tournament. For this week, I like Sergio Garcia, Ernie Els, Vijay Singh and Chad Campbell. I think all 3 player’s golf game will fit very well at TPC San Antonio.
